Complete a loop. Return to base camp. Rest, refuel and decide whether to go again.
ABOUT THE RACE
-
THE CHALLENGE
Outrun the Night is a 12-hour night running challenge through Dalkeith Country Park.
Starting at 7pm, runners complete as many 5km loops as they can before the night is over.
You can run continuously, take a break or stop and restart later. Every completed loop adds another 5km to your total.
Your final loop must begin before 7am. No new loops can be started after 7am, but a loop started before the cut-off can be completed and will count towards your distance.
How far you go is up to you.
5km. 20km. A marathon. Your first ultra. Something even bigger.

NOT JUST FOR ULTRARUNNERS
Outrun the Night is designed for runners who want to challenge themselves without being told how far they must go.
You might be:
Taking on your first trail event
Running through the night for the first time
Attempting your first marathon or ultra distance
Returning to running with a team
Chasing the solo podium
Seeing how far you can go before your mind tells you to stop
There is no minimum distance beyond completing your first loop.
Come with a target or discover it during the night.
ARE YOU READY?
The trails will be dark. The hours will feel long. Base camp will keep calling you back.
The question is whether you head out for one more loop.
One Night. One Goal. Outrun the Night.
